Vasile heads the Restructuring Research Group of the Rules for Growth (Droit & Croissance) Institute. He is a DPhil in Law candidate at the University of Oxford, working under the supervision of Prof. Horst Eidenmüller and Prof. Kristin van Zwieten. His doctoral research focuses on court-supervised corporate debt restructurings, and particularly on the governance strategies used for policing opportunism in corporate restructurings in the US, England and France.
Vasile is qualified to practice law in France (Paris Bar) and has practiced in the restructuring, M&A and capital markets departments of several international law firms in Paris. He has also published in French and English on private international law, French insolvency law and the EU Restructuring Directive (2019/1023).
He holds degrees in law (Sorbonne, Sciences Po Paris, Columbia Law School), philosophy (Sorbonne) and logic (Sorbonne). His main areas of interest include law & economics, corporate finance, insolvency, corporate governance, financial regulation, comparative private law, private international law, jurisprudence and political philosophy.
Vasile is also an Associate Editor of the Oxford Business Law Blog and co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Revue européenne du droit (RED), a bilingual and biannual legal journal published in English and French by the Groupe d’études géopolitiques.
