Researcher and professor emeritus at the University of Montreal, specialized in the economic analysis of law and intellectual property, Ejan Mackaay was awarded the 2013 Vogel prize in economic law for his work Law and Economics for Civil Law Systems.
In 2009, he was appointed as Fellow at the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations (interuniversity research center in analysis of organizations), after having directed the Public Law Research Center (1999-2003) and the Center of Business Law and International Trade (2005-2008) at the University of Montreal.
Ejan Mackaay holds an LL.M from the University of Toronto as well as an LL.M. and Ph.D from the University of Amsterdam.
He received the Minerve price from the Dutch Translators Society for having translated the Dutch Civil Code into French and was named honorary professor at the Universidad San Martin de Porres, Lima, Peru.
